Acer AST180 Desktop PC (Athlon X2 4000+, 1GB, Vista Premium) for $260 or less at Circuit City on week of 8/12 - YMMV

The deal starts Sunday, 8/12. You get $410 PC + $220 LCD - $180 IS (instant savings) = $450. 19″ LCD seems to be on sale, so it gets $30 of IS, and PC gets $150, so the deal becomes $260 PC + $190 LCD. Return of LCD gets you the PC for $236. Any coupons (AAA or $40 off) would knock off about $20 off the PC price, making it $240 PC. YMMV on your local B&M accepting the coupon.

Many people had no problems with LCD return, many others succeeded after failing on first try. Once again, YMMV on this.

There is a lot, a lot of information in the older thread, on upgrading to XP, changing BIOS, technical issues and questions and so on. Make sure to search the older thread if you have technical questions.

Consider getting Epson CX5000 AIO with it (for $90), Epson AIO CX6000 (for $100) or Epson C88 (for $80). Epson’s $75 MIR when purchased together with PC cuts those printers to decent price range. Also, Canon MP160 is FAR with PC purchase after $50 combo MIR and $40 MIR (thanks, FatFreddie).

If you need memory, take a look at HP PX976AT for a good deal on PC2-5300. The cost varies day by day, but usually around $20 AR for 1GB. There are several threads on this on FW.

P.S. For those who would rather get Intel, very similar PC with Pentium D 925 (older, but still not too outdated dual core CPU), is $40 more.
